Liebe Freunde und Teilnehmer des FAT 2005,
Dear friends and participants of FAT 2005,

Hier der erste und vermutlich einzige Newsletter zum diesjährigen 
Turnier. Um der zahlreichen internationalen Spieler Rechnung zu tragen, 
zunächst auf Englisch, anschließend, wie gewohnt, die deutsche Version.

1 Welcome!
First of all, the FAT-Team (Tu Felix Austria) wants to thank you all for 
showing interest in our tournament and for (partially) taking a long way 
to attend. There is a pretty international lot of players to assemble at 
"Hohe Wand" this year. We are proud to host French, Italian, Swiss, 
Dutch and a LOT of German Players. Great!!!

2 Contact update
Most important thing:
I will be absent for the next ten days, so please: for any kind of 
request or questions, contact Clara Bretschneider, who will coordinate 
your coming/staying. Her address is:

3 Finding us at "Hohe Wand"
The "Hohe Wand" is some kind of a natural ressort close to the small 
city of "Wiener Neustadt". We are playing there in the beautiful 
"Herrgottschnitzerhaus", a little cottage, 100 something years old, but 
yet renewed, so don't worry, toilets are inside! :o)

If you need help journeying to the venue, clara will be of assistance. 
She is also in charge of the Shuttles to and from the venue, airport and 
train-station.

If you come by car, there are some maps of how to find us on our

If you get lost, ask for "Hohe Wand" or "Herrgottschnitzerhaus" if you 
are at "Hohe Wand" already. In the highly unlikely case that you are 
completely lost, and no helpful Austrians are at hand, you can call 
Clara or me.

4 Staying/accomodation
We are currently more than fully booked. It is still possible to 
probably find you places to stay, but since our possibilities are 
somewhat limited, we can't guarantee for people trying to register now. 
If you are already registered, everything should be fine.

If you booked the "Herrgottschnitzerhaus", there is something to say 
about it. This is the low-budget-accomodation, so please don't expect 
any comfort at all. We are sleeping on matrasses (SLEEPING BAGS OR 
BED-SHEETS REQUIRED!!!), and there is only one shower. On the other 
hand, the "Herrgottschnitzerhaus" will be the place where all the action 
will take place, and last years experience showed, that people REALLY 
got to know each other over there. :)

5 Staying before and after the tournament
One or two of you asked for the posibility of coming earlier/leaving 
later. This is possible, please ask Clara for more informations and 
check with her.

6 The Tournament
Thursday will see the arriving of the players, supper, briefing-ceremony 
and the famous "Players party" (fairly informell, just grab yourself a 
beer and a few friends and play/talk/drink).
The tournament itself will start on friday.
We will be playing four rounds, two on friday, two on saturday. Second 
round on friday will count for the "Team-Tournament" (register in teams, 
two players a team). The second round on saturday will see the 
Top-board, where the seven players with the best results in the three 
previous rounds will be playing for the title of the Austrian Master. 
The player to win the top board will also win the tournament. All other 
players will be ranked according to the sum of their results in all four 
legs of the tournament, whereas the worst result will not be taken into 
account. The games end 1907, Top board ends 1909.
Sunday, there is just Winners-ceremony and biding farewell to new 
friends. :o)

All the evenings will be free to play, talk, well, you know, all the 
stuff we really want to do at FAT.

7 Other things to know
The "Herrgottschnitzerhaus" is located on a mountain (well, at least 
germans and dutch would call it that). So: days hopefully see a lot of 
sun (don't forget your sun-protection/hat), whereas nights tend to be 
pretty cold (some warm clothes recommanded).
Don't forget your sleeping-bag/bed-sheets if you are staying at 
Herrgottschnitzerhaus!!!

1 Willkommen!
Zunächst: herzlich willkommen auf dem FAT (Felix Austria Tournament). 
Das Veranstalter-Team (Tu Felix Austria) freut sich in diesem Jahr 
besonders über ein sehr internationales Teilnehmerfeld mit Gästen aus 
Italien, Frankreich, der Schweiz, den Niederlanden und besonders vielen 
deutschen Teilnehmern.

2 Kontakt (update)
Wichtig: In den kommenden 10 Tagen bin ich in Polen unterwegs, und nur 
sporadisch erreichbar. Fragen, Beschwerden, Wünsche wegen Anreise, 
Unterkunft, Anmeldungen etc. bitte an Clara Bretschneider.

3 Anreise
Solltet ihr mit Flugzeug oder Zug anreisen, bitte wendet euch an Clara, 
um abgeholt zu werden. Wir versuchen, lückenlosen Shuttle-Dienst zum 
Spielort auf die Beine zu stellen. Im Notfall bitte um ein wenig Geduld...

Die Anreise mit dem Auto ist auch nicht schwierig.
Erstes Ziel: Wiener Neustadt. Das ist nicht schwer zu finden, eine 
kleine Stadt nahe bei Wien (A2).
Von Wr. Neustadt aus müsst ihr zum "Naturpark Hohe Wand". Das mag ein 
bisschen tricky sein. Auf unserer Website findet ihr Karten.

Die Hohe Wand kennt jeder im Umkreis von Wiener Neustadt, bitte einfach 
einen freundlichen Eingeborenen um Hilfe fragen.

Sobald ihr auf der Hohen Wand seid, möchtet ihr zum

4 Unterbringung
Wir sind momentan mehr als ausgebucht. Unsere räumlichen Ressourcen sind 
leider begrenzt und ausgeschöpft, deswegen können wir Spielern, die sich 
noch nicht angemldet haben, nicht mehr garantieren, dass sie auch einen 
Platz bekommen werden. Wir tun aber unser Bestes, versprochen.
Alle bisher angemeldeten Spieler bekommen ihren Platz.

Wenn ihr das Paket "Herrgottschnitzerhaus" gebucht habt: BITTE VERGESST 
EUREN SCHLAFSACK/BETTWÄSCHE NICHT!!!
Die Hütte ist über 100 Jahre alt, zwar renoviert und mit fließendem 
Wasser, etc. ausgestattet, aber eben kein Ferien-Club. Wir schlafen im 
Matratzenlager und teilen uns 1 (!) Dusche. Das hat aber auch Vorteile: 
man lernt sich kennen... :o)

5 Unterbringung vor und nach dem Turnier
Einige haben sich gemeldet, und wollten vor oder nach dem Turnier noch 
ein wenig bleiben (in Wien). Dem kommen wir gerne nach, falls ihr 
Wuensche in der Richtung habt, meldet euch bitte bei Clara, sie 
organisiert das.

6 Turnier/Ablauf
Donnerstag: Ankommen, essen, kurzes Briefing, "Players Party" (spielen, 
quatschen, trinken...).
Freitag und Samstag wird tagsüber das Turnier (Österreichische 
Meisterschaften) ausgespielt. Abends kann frei gespielt, gegessen, 
getrunken, was auch immer werden. Pro Tag finden zwei Runden statt, die 
zweite Runde am Freitag ist die Team-Runde (2er-Teams), die zweite Runde 
am Samstag sieht das Top-Board. Spiele dauern bis 1907, das Top-Board 
bis 1909.

Die besten sieben Spieler nach drei Runden besetzen das Top-Board. Dort 
wird der Turnier-Sieger ausgespielt (=österreichischer Meister). Alle 
anderen Spieler werden entsprechend ihrer Ergebnisse in allen vier 
Runden gewertet (ein Streichresultat).

Sonntag ist nur noch Sieger-Zeremonie und Abschied von neuen Freunden. :o)

7 Andere wichtige Dinge
Das Herrgottschnitzerhaus ist in den Bergen. Das heißt, tagsüber kann 
die Sonne (zumal im August) richtig fies werden (unbedingt schützen! 
Sonnencreme, Hut, was auch immer), nächtens wirds hingegen rasch mal 
kühl (Pullover oder Jacke, warme Hose schadet nix).

Schlafsack nicht vergessen, wenn ihr im Herrgottschnitzerhaus wohnt!!!

So, das war erst mal alles. Wenn ihr noch Fragen habt, meldet auch bei 
Clara, wir sehen uns dann im August!
